Nuestro idioma, nuestra herencia (Our Language, Our Heritage) is a Spanish for Heritage Speakers text program designed for students who grew up speaking or hearing Spanish at home here in the U.S. and who, in general, are proficient at conversing but need to improve their reading and writing skills. The ultimate goal of this program is to polish and refine students' Spanish language skills so that they have the confidence to use it in any context'”academic, professional, or personal. And as students build upon and hone their Spanish language skills through cultural readings, grammar, spelling, and writing tasks, they also develop a sense of pride in their linguistic and cultural heritage. Unique and inspiring, Nuestro idioma, nuestra herencia frames language learning in terms of a celebration of Hispanic cultures. Each chapter highlights a cultural genre such as music, film, and traditions and grounds it in relevant countries of focus including Hispanic communities present in the U.S. The topics will be familiar, but students will undoubtedly deepen their knowledge and come to more appreciate aspects of Hispanic culture as they hone their Spanish language skills.
