"Although most of the works included in The Norton Anthology of American Literature can be found in the free domain there is something to say about the convenience of having these works in one location. Each included work has a concise introduction and run down written by one of the authors which is a great way to get ready to read and study these stories. Several users had complaints however due to the lack of side notes and accompanying material. I used this for a class and ran into a few issues with needing to illicit out sources to fill in gaps."
