Apalaanchi : Pescadores Wayuu

Exploring the lifestyle of a lesser-known indigenous tribe, this photographic journey captures the daily lives of the Wayuu fishermen who live in northwestern Venezuela and northeastern Colombia on the Guajira Peninsula and are known as the Apalaanchi--"people of the beach." Showing a group of people struggling to survive, the stunning images in this collection illustrate the culture of the Wayuu fishermen, detailing their traditions, views on mysticism, and their relationship with the sea that gives them a livelihood. From the innocent smiles of young children and the peacefulness and wisdom of the Wayuu elders to the hardworking fishermen themselves, this compilation offers a unique view of an indigenous people. Explorando el modo de vida de una tribu indigena poco conocida, este viaje fotografico captura las vidas diarias de los pescadores Wayuu que viven en la parte noroeste de Venezuela y la parte noreste de Colombia en la Peninsula de la Guajira y se llaman Apalaanchi--"gentes de la playa." Presentando un grupo de gente que se transforma para sobrevivir, las imagenes despampanantes en esta coleccion ilustran la cultura de los pescadores Wayuu, detallando sus tradiciones, puntos de vista sobre el misticismo y su relacion con el mar que les da sustento. Desde las sonrisas inocentes de los ninos y la paz y sabiduria de sus ancianos hasta los pescadores trabajadores, esta compilacion ofrece un punto de vista unico de una gente indigena.
